MLive (a.k.a. the Bay City Times) reports today on the history of Bay City breweries.
Rick Schmidt, a local antique dealer and collector of brewery
memorabilia, tells the paper that his collection is “about preserving the
history and artifacts of the businesses that are long gone."
Carole Powers of the Bay County Historical Museum says immigrants
who came to work in fur trading and lumbering brought a “taste for beer with
them.”
